Acorn Fleece Scarf

Acorn Fleece Scarf

The perfect touch of acorn and leaf appliques add a simple beauty to an easy to make no-sew scarf.

 1:

Rotate "Oak Leaf Applique 2" (PS2010) by 180 degrees so that it's upside-down. Save it for use, and print a production sheet for it.

 2:

Print production sheets for the original "Oak Leaf Applique 2" (PS2010), and for "Acorn Applique" (PS2001). Cut the designs out.

 3:

Use the production sheet cut outs to arrange the designs along one end of a 9" x 60" strip of fleece, leaving approximately 4" of fleece to be cut as fringe.

 4:

Hoop three layers together: a topping-weight stabilizer over the fleece and a backing-weight water soluble stabilizer under it.

 5:

Prepare applique fabric pieces for the designs.

 6:

Embroider designs, adding the applique pieces at the appropriate points.

 7:

After your embroidery is finished, remove the topping and backing. Lightly misting with water will help.

 8:

Now cut the fringe. A plastic strip cutting grid is useful to cut the fringe. In this example, each column was four inches long and half an inch wide. Once the fringe is cut, the scarf is ready to wear, sell, or give away.
