Rotating an Embroidery Design File

Rotating an Embroidery Design File

Jazz up your project layout by rotating embroidery designs. One way to sew a design at an angle is to hoop your item at an angle. Alternately, some embroidery machines have rotation functions built in. And yet another way to tilt designs is to use editing software. Using software to create your rotation is the most precise, hands-on method. This technique will show you how to rotate a design using Wilcom TrueSizer software.

 1:

Obtain the Wilcom True Sizer software for this project (see the link provided). Open Wilcom True Sizer. Use the "Open" command on the File menu to bring up the design you will be working with, in the format of your choice.

 2:

Click the "Select all" icon in the toolbar (it looks like two triangles with a circle). Alternately, use "Select All" from the Edit menu.

 3:

The selected design will turn white. From the "Embroidery" menu, choose "Properties." This opens the Object Properties window. Alternately, right-click over the selected design to open this window.

 4:

In the "Rotate by" box, enter the degree of rotation you would like. In this example, the candy corn design is being rotated 45 degrees to the left. Click the "ok" button.

 5:

This software defaults to a counter-clockwise rotation, so in order to tilt a design to the right by 45 degrees, enter 315 in the "Rotate by" box (360 degrees minus 45 degrees equals 315 degrees).

 6:

Save the file in the format of your choice by selecting the "Save As" option from the File menu. In the "Save As" window, you may select where to save the file, what its name will be, and which format you would like. Now you can put a "spin" on your embroidery any time!
