Machine embroidery should be a fun and rewarding experience for all. Join professional digitizer and industry pioneer, Lindee Goodall as she takes you on a 12 month inspirational and educational journey deep into the world of computerized machine embroidery -- Echidna P.I.E. (P.I.E. stands for Premium Inspiration and Education).

In an exciting creative twist, Lindee has based each project and the accompanying designs on "birth month flowers". Whether you are a beginner or experienced machine embroiderer, you will discover that Lindee's teaching is very thorough, well-presented, jargon free and easy-to-understand. Your embroidery skills will blossom as will the pleasure of creating beautiful new projects.

At the end of 12 months your embroidery education library will have grown. And you will always have Lindee's notes on hand for easy reference. If you plan to print your notes, we suggest you buy a 2-ring display binder from your local stationer to store your notes. We've even supplied a printable binder cover insert for you.

This series originally premiered in Australia and includes the Australian birth month flowers. Not Aussie? No problem! The U.S. birth month flowers are also included in the project set.

Holly and Poinsettia is the sixth in the Birth Month Flower series of Echidna P.I.E. (P.I.E. stands for Premium Inspiration and Education).

Month 6 (December) is all about Embroidered 3D Flowers. Using applique designs, in this lesson Lindee will use customising software to repurpose embroidery designs to create a 3D effect. Lindee instructions include the use of tools within the Embrilliance Essentials and Embrilliance Enthusiast programs. Scroll down to watch the video. Although it is much easier and less time consuming to use embroidery customising and editing software, you can still complete this project without the appropriate software as Lindee's notes do include a very brief outline on how to do this.

For this month's project you will be creating a lovely 3D corsage (pictured at right).

Whether you are a beginner or experienced machine embroiderer, you will discover that Lindee's teaching is very thorough, well-presented, jargon free and easy-to-understand. Your embroidery skills will blossom as will the pleasure of creating beautiful new projects. For insipration, visit the Echidna P.I.E. Gallery to see what others have created.
If you have missed the previous months of Echidna P.I.E you will find them here.

Goodall digitizer projects purchased for monthly projects work with other brands of digitizers such as Janome MBX5 and Artista 6?

Hi Joan, I don't recommend opening stitch files in the Janome digitizer. This program can rearrange stitches and corrupt a stitch file. Not sure if this has been corrected in newer versions of that program or not but was true as of 2015.

Thanks for adding that important distinction, Lindee!

Hi Joan, Lindee Goodall's monthly projects do include formats which can be read by Janome MBX5 and Artista 6.
The instructions for editing included in the PDF are usually demonstrated in Embrilliance software. If you are familiar with these operations in other software, you will be able to follow along with whichever one you own.
