Lace Napkin Holders

Lace Napkin Holders

A freestanding lace napkin holder is a beautiful part of the dressed up table. This project can be made in-the-hoop, using a water-soluble stabilizer.

 1:

You will need an embroidery hoop & sewing area large enough to accommodate a 6.62" x 3.42" design. Hoop two layers of a water soluble stabilizer such as Hemingworth's Washaway Hot Water Soluble.

 2:

Embroider the design directly on the stabilizer. I prefer to use a polyester or metallic thread for this item.

 3:

When the embroidery is finished, cut away the excess stabilizer.

 4:

To dissolve the remaining stabilizer, immerse the embroidery in hot water.

 5:

Allow the embroidery to dry. You may press it flat, if you like. Use a pressing cloth to protect the thread from the iron's heat.

 6:

Fold and roll a napkin. Wrap the embroidered holder around the napkin, and insert the triangular end through the notch at the other end to keep it in place.
