Lace Charm Bracelet

Lace Charm Bracelet

Charm bracelets are very popular. Girls enjoy mixing and matching the charms, and charm selection is fun too, because each has special meaning to the wearer. This project will teach you to use lace designs to create an embroidered charm bracelet!

 1:

Measure the wrist size. Unless you plan to use an existing chain or armband, you will need either one or both of the lace bracelet pieces "Charm Bracelet Piece" (Hdlj4) and "Charm Bracelet End Piece" (Hdlj4b). Each charm bracelet piece is one inch long, so if you have a 7” wrist you will need to embroider 7 of the bracelet pieces. Remember that the length of the bracelet would depend on the type of closure that you purchase for the bracelet. Many different types of closures are available in the jewelry section of craft stores. "Charm Bracelet End Piece" (Hdlj4b) is a triangle end cap piece to fit finer closures. Most closures will work with this project.

 2:

Embroider the bracelet pieces that you need on a water soluble stabilizer such as Hemingworth's Hot Water Wash Away. Cut away excess stabilizer and then rinse the pieces. Allow the lace to dry, and press it flat.

 3:

Join the bracelet pieces together using two 6mm jump rings per join. The rings are available in craft stores.

 4:

Choose the charm designs for your bracelet. Embroider, rinse, dry, and press them as you did for the bracelet pieces.

 5:

Once the bracelet length is assembled, attach the closure to both ends of the bracelet. The method you use to attach the closure will vary depending on the type of closure used, but you will probably find needle-nosed pliersvery helpful no matter which type of closure you attach.

 6:

Now that the bracelet is finished, lay out the charms below it, and decide on the order you would like to hang each one.

 7:

Small jewelry loops are needed for attaching the charms to the bracelet. With needle-nosed pliers, spread the loop and thread it through the small hole in the top of a charm. Do this for each charm.

 8:

Attach each small jewelry loop to a jump ring, like the ones you used to attach the bracelet.

 9:

Thread each jump ring through the lattice work in the bracelet pieces. Close the jump rings with pliers.
