Five Tips for Success: Upcycling Tee Shirts

When you upcycle a T-Shirt using the Boho T-Shirt Bundle, here are 5 tips for success!

1. Go Girly!  Choose a tee-shirt with a feminine weight/size of ribbing on the neckline.  A half inch ribbing is a good size.  Tee shirts with no ribbing (interfacing or a light hem instead) work too!

2. Go Hefty!  With the Boho T-Shirt designs, you're using 15 weight thread.  Use a thicker tee shirt to give that thread something to "sit on." Baby weight knits are not ideal. And don't forget your stabilizer.   

3. Use a big eye needle, often marked as "topstitch" with the 15 weight thread.

4. Stand the thread up vertically when stitching. This will help it to feed properly into the machine.

5. Slow down your machine with specialty threads.  Eileen recommends about 600 spm.  The Boho designs stitch so quickly anyhow!
