Are these free standing lace? what type of thread?

Hi Di,
These were not designed for freestanding lace. I have had some success making freestanding lace out of designs similar to these though. You need to use a fibrous water soluble stabilizer like Hemingworth's hot water wash away. What this does, is leave fibers in the embroidery after most of the stabilizer is washed away, providing a structural basis for the lace. True freestanding lace designs can be stitched on the types of soluble stabilizer that completely wash away.
