Every little boy loves planes, trains, boats and cars! The simple designs in our Traveler collection let you use lots of colorful applique fabrics to create eye-catching embroideries. Of course you could choose to make traditional blocks to piece together or, as we did, opt for a simple open background of one color to randomly place designs that have been individually sewn out on basic felt. Trim a narrow border around each shape and then with a wide zigzag stitch them in place. Because we found great roadmap printed cotton for the backing, we added a thin layer of cotton batting to the inside of the quilt for a lightly padded effect.
