Tote-ally Tote-able

Have you ever been shopping and you see one of the designer quilted bags whose prints just reach out to you, and you have that feeling that it HAS to be yours, until you look at the price tag? So then, as a sewer, you decide you can make your own, but somehow it never seems to happen, or it does happen but it has a totally un-designer look about it.

Well, how about this one? This roomy tote (finished top edge 14 3/4" across from side seam to side seam and stands 12" tall) is just waiting for you to choose your fabrics to make whatever statement you wish!

The front and the back are each made up of 9 different quickly-embroidered blocks (largest blocks require 6" or 150mm embroidery field). Each block features distinctive quilting or decorative motifs, is backed with coordinating fabric, and has an inner fleece batting for firmness. The blocks are joined in rows in the hoop, then the rows are sewn together, the ribbon trim is edgestitched over the seams, and the front and back are sewn together.

Add handles and additional embellishments and features if desired, and suddenly you have become the designer-bag-lady! And to paraphrase the old commercial, bet you can't make just one!
