100% hand over-dyed cotton. Perfect for needlepoint and can be used on different mesh canvas. Works well for stitching on wool applique and penny rugs. Size 5 is the most common used size because it draws attention to the stitches on an appliqued piece, without taking away from the overall design.

What does "size 5" mean? And how many yards are in this skein?

Hi, Carol. Thanks for the question. Size 5 is a heavier weight of pearl cotton, used often for needlepoint and sometimes for surface embroidery. The size of pearl cotton you use will depend on the project you are doing. If you are not sure what size to use, feel free to give us an idea of your project and we can give you a recommendation. Weeks Pearl Cotton #5 comes 10 yards per skein.
