Vintage Lace Tutorial

Vintage Lace Tutorial

Adorable Ideas' Vintage Lace is created with heirloom techniques for your computerized embroidery machine. This tutorial shows the basic steps for making Vintage Lace for use in Adorable Ideas projects.

 1:

Hoop a piece of water soluble water soluble stabilizer such as Hemingworth's Washaway Hot Water Soluble.

 2:

Embroider the design directly on the stabilizer. For best results we recommend using rayon thread for Vintage Lace. You may also choose to pre-wind bobbins to match your lace color. In our example, we have stitched the design "Lace 3rd Ed. Vol.6 no.59" (AIML59).

 3:

When the embroidery is finished, remove it from the hoop and cut away the excess stabilizer, as closely to lace as possible without cutting into stitching. We recommend using applique scissors for this.

 4:

Hold lace under a gentle stream of warm water until all residue is removed.

 5:

Lay lace on a towel and gently pat dry. Let air dry or hasten the process by using a hair dryer on the low setting.

 6:

Your lace is now ready for your project.
