Hooded Towel

Hooded Towel

Need a unique gift for an expectant mother? Cindy Fuller turns a towel and washcloth into a one-piece hooded towel. This towel is perfect for wrapping a kid up after his bath. It can be used for a newborn needing to be dried quickly to prevent chill, or for a toddler ready to run as soon as his feet hit the floor. As the child grows it also doubles as a cape for playing super heroes!

 1:

You will need: 1 bath sized towel, 1 washcloth to match the towel, and at least one embroidery design for embellishment

 2:

Embroider the design on the bottom half of the washcloth. If wash cloth has any ribs you might want to put those on the sides as shown in the example. **Please note that product tags should always face the inside of the finished project.

 3:

Fold the washcloth in half vertically so that the right side of the design should is visible, and stitch down both short sides. The washcloth now forms a pocket for the child's head.

 4:

Mark the top middle of the towel.

 5:

Fold one side of the towel towards the marked middle, starting at 3” from mark. Double the fold back and pin down the folds you've made. Repeat for other side of the towel. This creates a bit of a "ruffle" for holding each of the child's little shoulders.

 6:

Sew along the top towell hem, stitching the folds in place so that the pins can be removed.

 7:

Match the center of the washcloth to the towel's center and sew the right sides of the towel and washcloth together, using a zigzag stitch. Now your hooded towel project is finished!
