DMC Light Effects Thread glimmers with a metallic shimmer. It's made from 100% polyester fibers and will give your project a gorgeous twinkle. The thread consists of six size 25 easily separated strands. Use it on its own or combine it with a strand of cotton floss for a touch of sparkle.
For the best stitching experience with DMC Light Effects Thread, work with a shorter length of thread (try 12 inches). The will help keep the fibers fresh and prevent fraying. If the thread becomes twisted while stitching, drop the needle and let it unwind itself.
This floss is a 6-strand, polyester, metallic & viscose blend. Washable, dry cleanable and resistant to tarnish. 8.7 yds per skein.

How is DMC Light Effects Floss (ie, E5200) different from the DMC Metallic Thread (ie, D5200)?
Light Effect is a six stand floss which i would recommend using either 2 strands or tweeting it with 1 stand reg DMC floss. Diamante is a twisted 1 strand spool which would give you full coverage in the x no need for tweeting.
could you please tell me if this floss truly 'glows in dark' or is that just a lovely name for it? Thanks.
Hi, Jennefer. The light effects in general are NOT glow in the dark. They each have their own effect such as being metallic or pearlescent. Light Effects E940 Glow-In-The-Dark IS glow in the dark. Like anything glow in the dark, it does have to charged with light from a light bulb or the sun. But, yes, it does glow in the dark.
