Hi Bertha,

Thanks for reaching out with your question! I would recommend using size 5 Pearl Cotton for 14ct Aida. Here is an article that might help as you make your decision. Please let me know if you have any questions and have a great day!

Hello, I want to purchase a few rolls of 8wt pearl cotton I have a quilt with blush in it but online the blush looks way too dark compared to the piece of fabric. Is there a way to get a real look at blush and baby pink side by side? I also looked at the shell pink

Hi Vyronyca,

Thank you for reaching out to Embroidery.com with your question. We would be happy to take pictures of the requested threads side by side. I see LT Shell Pink and Baby Pink here, but I can't seem to find the Blush that you were talking about. Would you like us to send pictures of just these two threads, or do you want to send me a link to the Blush so that we can include it in the picture line up?

HelloLeah, yes please. The quilt that I am making has blush pink in it and I am trying to find a color to match similar to blush. If you can please show me pictures side by side of thread colors close to blush that would be great. Thank you so much

Hi Vyronyca,

Thanks for your response! It sounds like it is going to be a beautiful quilt. Can you reply to this comment with a list of threads that you think will be closest to your particular shade of blush? It is a little crazy how many different shades there are out there. :) We will be sure to to picture the ones you include in your comment side by side. Looking forward to sending this picture to you!

Hey Vyronyca,

Sorry, I didn't realize you couldn't enlarge the pictures or else I would have labeled them. From Left to right the colors are 818, 819, 224, and 225. The one of the far right is 225 Very Light Shell Pink. Does it match your project alright?

Hello! My daughter makes friendship bracelets and is going through the small skeins in almost 2 days! Do you think these size 8 balls would work just as well? I'm trying to get her most frequently used colors in bulk. Thank you!!

Donnett H.

yes these would work well for that. The DMC skeins have 8 yard of floss where these have 87 yards. I think the pearl cotton would look nice as a a bracelet. Would love to see pics of her finished work. Happy stitching

Hello Donnett, Heather or whomever! A question for you. I tat - picked it back up after a while - and I'm looking to tat miniature doilies for miniature rooms my Mum and I made and thus I want to use fairly thin thread to make tiny pieces. I LOVE the look of your threads but it's really hard to find a REAL comparison chart. So: how do your lovely DMC Pearl Cotton Balls Size 8 or Size 12 compare to Lizbeth size 80? Thanks for your help and I suspect I'll be back on these boards again. Alley

Kirsten S.

Allison, Lisbeth 80 will be a lot finer than Pearl DMC Cotton. Size 8 will compare to Lisbeth 20, and DMC 12 will be similar to Lisbeth 40.

Congratulations on picking it back up.The last time I did, I saw that I definitely need a refresher on making picos! Enjoy your project.

Kirsten - and that link you provided is TERRIFIC! Thank you! For anyone looking to size compare it's the best I've seen. Alley

Thank you so much for your reply Kirsten! This is VERY helpful information and confirms that buying the Pearl DMC would be a mistake. Hopefully I can either find the Lisbeth 80 or find a very close equivalent somewhere. Any suggestions appreciated. As to picots, I definitely need work on uniform sizing myself. FWIW, A) there are picot gauges of several types out there and I'm thinking of getting one and trying it; and B) If you haven't seen them, I find Georgia Seitz' videos to be of GREAT help in tatting refreshment! Happy Yarning and STAY SAFE Alley

We're very sorry but it appears DMC does not make Lemon in size 12. It's not listed on their website, nor is it listed with any of our suppliers. So sorry about that.

Is this 6 stranded thread? (Looking for thread similar to little skeins of DMC floss). Also what size crochet hook is recommended for this thread? Thanks!

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

This is DMC Pearl Cotton Balls Size 8. The DMC six strand floss is only available in the skeins not in the balls. I've only crochet with yarn I've never done any with pearl cotton before so I am not sure what size hook you should use.

Are these appropriate for cross stitching?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Thanks for the question, Barbara. DMC Pearl Cotton Size 8 is appropriate for cross stitching ONLY if you are using a large count fabric like a 10 tula or a 7 count Klostern or a 18 count Linen.

Is this the weight that is typucally used for tatted edges..pillow cazes, hankies, etc?

Donnett H.

It really just depends on what type of thickness you want, totally personal preference. I personally like size 8.

is peral cotton #8 the same size as valdani #3?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Donnett H.

Well Valdani's Pearl Cotton is available in the same sizes of 5, 8 and 12. However Valdani does have 3ply balls which is more like a DMC regular floss strand. They are just all in a small ball like the pearl cotton but the thread is not a pearl cotton.
