Inspirational Bookmarks

Make as many of these inspirational bookmarks as you like. With Starbird's especially created designs and these easy in-the-hoop instructions, you'll be speed-reading in no time!

 1:

You will need to gather the following materials: at least one design from the "Inspirational Bookmarks" series by Starbird, tear away backing, bobbin thread to match the last color stop thread color, two applique fabric pieces - each approximately 7 1/4"x 4" each approximately. We used PSA twill (pressure sensitive twill) for our applique pieces. (Please let us know at Starbird if we can cut the applique pieces for you). You can also cut your own fabric to use.

 2:

First hoop one piece of tear away backing in your hoop. Then sew the 1st color stop which is the dieline. (You can stitch this outline on cardstock, and use this as a template to cut both the front and back applique pieces if you want.)

 3:

After the dieline has sewn, stop the machine and place the top applique piece. (If you are using your own fabric be sure to use an adhesive spray such as 505 Spray 'n Fix to keep the fabric in place.)

 4:

Start the machine again and embroider the design until the next applique placement stop.

 5:

Remove the hoop from your machine. Do not unhoop the design. Turn the hoop over so you are looking at the back of the design.

 6:

Now place the bottom applique piece on the back of the design, making sure that the applique piece is secure and will not fall off when you return the hoop to the machine. (Use spray adhesive if you are not using the PSA twill.)

 7:

Carefully return the hoop to your machine and continue embroidering the design.

 8:

Remove the design from the hoop and gently tear away the backing from the bookmark. You may need to trim away any excess backing or stray thread. Make as many different bookmarks as you like. They make excellent gifts for readers.
