How do I send designs to my USB stick / thumb drive from Embrilliance?

Embrilliance programs allow you to save your design edits or creations to your USB stick (thumb drive) for transfer to your embroidery machine.

This tutorial is for Express, Essentials, Enthusiast, AlphaTricks, Density Repair Kit, and StitchArtist.

  1. Verify the design is the right size to fit the hoop for your machine (fits in on-screen hoop, or measures within the hoop size). See the making it fit FAQ for details.
  2. Save as a stitch file. In the File menu, choose "Save Stitch File As".
  3. Choose your drive from the list on the left. You may need to scroll down. It may be under the heading "My Computer" on a PC, or on a MAC, under the heading "Devices." Look for "USB" or "Removable Drive."
  4. Choose the format for your machine from the dropdown list in the center bottom of the window.
  5. At the top, beside "Save As", type in the name you want your file to have.
  6. Click "Save."
  7. Your design is ready to take to your machine.

Hi Darla,

When you download a zip file, you'll see it like this in the saved location:

The next window that opens will ask where to extract it to, and it shows the path where it will save if you do nothing. That's what I usually do -- use the default path by clicking "extract." in this window, too. Notice that I have checked "show extracted files when complete". Do that. It will save you a step.

Depending on the organization of the item you've downloaded, you may need to click and open more than one folder until you find your embroidery file, which is the only thing you want to send to the machine, usually. If there are instruction files, you can view them on your computer, but likely won't be sending that to your embroidery machine. My embroidery file is a.pes file. Once you find yours, right click your mouse on it it to see options. If you have windows 10, you will look for "send to" in the options. If you have Windows 11 (like I do), you'll need to click "show more options"

Once you find the "send to", click it, and then some locations will appear. My USB is at the bottom of the list, and it's called CRUZER (G:). So I click that, and the computer sends my design to my USB. Your USB will look different from mine.

Now you can take that USB to your embroidery machine.

I hope that helps!

Hi Irene,

I'll be glad to help. Which file type does your embroidery machine require?

Example: pes, sew, jef, DST, hus, etc

I keep doing this and when I put USB in the PE770, design doesn’t show up. I have deleted everything off the drive and it shows it transferred on it, but not when I put it in PE770. Please advise me what I’m doing wrong, I am so ready to give up

Bigger designs won't show up in your machine if they are too large for the machine's sewing area. And one more thing that can sometimes be an issue is the USB itself -- some machines require a small capacity USB, and cannot read otherwise perfectly good information off of larger capacity drives.

Hi, Denise. We're sorry to hear of your trouble. How large is the design you are trying to transfer? (You should see the size listed in mililmeters at the bottom of your Embrilliance screen if you don't have the information elsewhere.)
