Let's Learn Together: Embrilliance Thumbnailer

Let’s Learn Together: Embrilliance Thumbnailer

When a customer asked if we had a course on using Thumbnailer, I’ll admit I was surprised.  Thumbnailer is the most hands-off of all the Embrilliance programs. For me, it definitely falls under the category “set it and forget it.” Still, we do field questions on it from time to time, and there are some videos showing how to use it to the best advantage.
What if those videos and all that usage information were all collected in one place, and emailed to you, one digestible piece at a time?  That sounds a lot like something that would fit in our Let’s Learn Together series, which has been successful for StitchArtist and Essentials! So thank you all for the questions and suggestions. Here it is.

What is the cost?

It’s free.

Who can participate?

Anyone who owns or is curious about Embrilliance Thumbnailer (whether or not you purchased it from Embroidery.com).  You can purchase a full functioning,  licensed download of Embrilliance Thumbnailer (with a 90 day money back guarantee) here.  Note: this course is most applicable to Windows users.

It says above that I subscribed to Thumbnailer, which I intended. However, what does this heading mean?

Dee, as Jeanne mentioned, we sponsor live online embroidery events each Thursday on Embroidery.com. To alert our customers, so that they can attend while it's live, we add the "Watch Live Now" heading to all our machine embroidery pages for the duration of the event. When the event is finished, the heading disappears. This week's special event was an instructional demonstration on freestanding lace embroidery.

Hi Dee,

I think you must be referring to the advertisement for the Between Friends *Live with Eileen. That's an event put on by DIME, that we sponsor on our website every Thursday at noon MST. Just click where it says 'Between Friends *Live with Eileen - Quilt with your Embroidery Machine', that's in red, and it will take you to the page where the video will be playing. You can also re watch it later, if the live event time doesn't work for you. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Have a great day!

Am I supposed to receive anything after subscribing to this class? I'm on a mac (Catalina10.15.2). I have a copy of thumbnailer and somewhere along the line, it stopped working. I'm looking forward to learning!

Are Essential Platforms and Enthusiast one in the same? I purchased both of these thinking they were different programs, but I can only download Essential Platforms which leads me to believe Enthusiast is included in Essential Platforms.

Kirsten S.

Hi Davis,

Thanks for the question. Let me correct your terminology a little. The platform is Embrilliance Platform. Essentials is a program that runs on it, and Enthusiast is a different program that runs on the same platform. Enthusiast includes the platform, but does not include Essentials.

I have had my sewing machine and the Embrilliance Thumbnailer CD about 10 years ago or so. Well for some reason I have not been able to use the Embrilliance part of the program for quite some time. Now the Thumbnailer is gone, so I am out of business. I have tried to uninstalled the program and re-installed it but that did"t work. Every time I try to open up the pattern the "control panel" comes up. Where do I start to start over again? It was really great fun when the program was all working properly! Hope you can "HELP" ! !

Hi, Louise. Try uninstalling and re-installing your software, so long as you still have your serial number. If you still need assistance, please contact Embrilliance directly for assistance:

Hello Kristen,

Thank you for sending me the lessons I am new to embroidery and the software. I wonder if you can help me with an issue I have in embrilliance essentials? I think I hit something by mistake. I have already installed the software on my computer but when I open it I don't know how to get back the objects window on the right to change font or color thread. Is there a way to get that window back?

Thanking you in advance.

JoJo D.

Hi I just saw this class on Thumbnailer. I have essentials, enthusiast, alpha tricks and Thumbnailer. How can I get all these classes. I’d like to save them as I know very little about Embrilliance.

Heather B.

Hi JoJo. We're glad you found us! We do have classes on Thumbnailer, Essentials, and StitchArtist (not AlphaTricks or Enthusiast at this time). To sign up, visit the class pages and click on the orange "subscribe" button. I recommend taking them one-at-a-time so your subscriptions don't have any technical problems. You're welcome to save the lessons into your email account, although sometimes some of the lessons will "disappear" from your email account, but we are happy to re-send if that is the case. Here are links to the subscriptions pages:

Marlea G.

Hi! I have already subscribed to Embrilliance Essentials classes... I hope these can all be saved, because there is NO WAY, I'm possibly going to be able to learn 2 programs at once! One will be hard enough. But, I was afraid not to sign up for fear of not being able to get them! :/ And watch Essentials Quick Tips! So much to learn, so little time! Thank you!

Hi Marlea,

Thanks for writing. The lesson emails can be saved, and you can refer to them at any future time. If they ever go missing (sometimes they get deleted by software or even by people, accidentally), or anything else seems to go wrong with the series, you can email and ask me to re-send them or help you. Welcome to embroidery classes with Embroidery.com!

I use a Mac. Will this class help me

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Hi Cyn,

It might not. Most of what we do in this class is Windows-dependent.

So far I have experience only with Windows. I'm interested in learning what the most common issues for Mac users of Thumbnailer are, and I have been able to find some resources for Mac users.
Here is a video introducing Thumbnailer on Mac Air: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwZwxpgcJPs

Here is a link to a help for making thumbnails work on Mac generally. If even after installing Thumbnailer, you still see just generic icons in your Finder view, this link may be helpful: https://www.jgoode.com/easy-fix-for-mac-finder-preview-thumbnails-not-displaying/

Here is the user guide for Thumbnailer on Mac: https://www.embrilliance.com/emb_downloads/pdf/Embrilliance%20Thumbnailer%20User%20Guide.pdf

Roberta C.

My first question is that since all my designs are on our home 'network' where am I supposed to install this software?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Hi Roberta,

You should install this software on the computer where you want to work with embroidery designs. If you can access your home network from that machine, you'll be able to see the thumbnails when you work with the designs.
