How do I change the size of an embroidery design?

How do I change the size of an embroidery design?

3 ways to resize:

  1. Drag nodes
When your design is selected (clicked on), there are 8 black nodes around it. Click a corner node and drag to proportionally size the design.Click a middle node on top or bottom to change height only.Click a middle node on right or left to change width only.
  2. Use percentage
In the tool pane, use the percentage inputs to choose the size.
Use the lock icon to size proportionally.
To size only in height or width, click to unlock the lock icon.

  3. Use measurements
In the tool pane, choose millimeters or inches.
Use the lock icon to size proportionally, and enter the height or width you would like.
To change height or width only, unlock the lock icon before entering height or width measurements.

Essentials re-calculates the stitches for the new design size. Essentials allows you to size to 200% larger than original size, or 50% smaller than original size. There is no guarantee that the results will stitch well, so do use common sense and testing. Essentials also remembers your original size so that you can return to the original if you need to.

Hi I ordered a Love peace sign and want to downsize it to a smaller size. When I do (on the free software) each of the suggestions above it will not let me make it smaller.. (just only 10%)

It shows 90% in the box but when I place 80% or smaller it right away goes back to 90%. It also is stated that it is just a demo when i try to save it.. How can I get a free downsize with this software?

Maybe I am missing something or doing it wrong. Can this design be downsized? I need it to be about 1.5 x 1.5.. Thank you so much

Hi Wenona,

Which free software are you using? It sounds like you might be using the Embrilliance demo. You can't resize with their free software and save it. For a free resize, I recommend Embroidery Tool Shed. It sounds like you are trying to do a very dramatic resize. If possible, try to find the design closer to the size that you want. And be sure to do a test stitch after resizing. It's not impossible to get a good result with a huge resize, but not everything resizes equally well at rates of 90%.

Where do I find how to resize it?

Hi Delaney. If you are using Embrilliance Essentials to resize (featured in the above video), you can click on the design, and then click on one of the black nodes that appear around it, then drag the node until you reach the size you are after.

The process in Tool Shed is similar.
