How do I send designs to my USB stick / thumb drive? Mac version

How do I send designs to my USB stick / thumb drive?

If you have successfully downloaded an embroidery design to a location on your computer, you can locate it there, and send it to your USB at that point.

This video and steps provided illustration process for Mac:

  1. At the bottom of your screen, Finder button.
  2. On the left side of the window is a menu. Find "Downloads" there, and click on it..
  3. Now find the embroidery download.  If it is a folder, it houses more than one design.
  4. Double click on that folder to open it. You will see the design files there.
  5. To select all of the design files, click the top one, press and hold the shift key, and click the bottom file.  That selects all of the design files.
  6. To select just a few, click one that you want, press and hold the command key, and click the next one. Repeat for as many as you want to select.
  7. Insert your USB stick, if you haven't already.
  8. On the left side menu of your Finder, you can see your USB stick.
  9. With the left mouse button, click on one of your selected files, and drag them over to the USB stick, and release the mouse button when you see the green plus sign.  All of the selected files will be saved to your USB.
  10. You can click on the USB drive to view and verify that the files have been copied there.
  11. Beside the USB in the Finder is an eject button.  It looks like an underlined triangle. Click that to "eject" your USB. Eject, in this sense, is not obviously physical -- it doesn't pop out -- but the computer is now ready to let you safely remove the USB and its data.
  12. Remove the USB and insert it into your embroidery machine.

I have been digitizing for many years. As with many things my software has been rendered useless because I can not find a computer with windows 95.... my machines are bernina and uses a rewritable design card. Does this allow for download to a rewritable card?

Hello Beverly,

Thanks for your comment. I also use a rewritable card for my Brother machine, the updates to the PED-Basic software worked all the way up through Windows 10. There's a downloadable update on the Brother web site that helped me to keep it working. Here's the link to the software update: https://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c...

It sounds like you're using Bernina though. The only way you can keep going is either to (as you noted) use an older computer, or get updates for the software, or switch software.

I'm not sure which digitizing software you are using, but most of the software I know of for digitizing don't write to cards. However, you could get a Vikant Ultimate Box which is a card writer that is compatible with many different brands of cards and is compatible with Windows all the way up to 11. It's stand-alone, so you could save your digitized or downloaded files and then open them in the Ultimate Box software and write them to the cards. Here's the link to Vikant: https://vikant-emb.com/

I hope that addresses what you are needing. If not, please comment back with more details.
