Welcome to Embrilliance, where we offer Embroidery For the Rest Of Us!

Every embroiderer needs to do some basic things. Those things should be easy and fun, not an hour long trip to the dealer for a class. And it shouldn't cost an arm and a leg, either. And just because your computer is a Mac with OSX or a PC with Windows 10 (64 bit) doesn't mean you should be left out!

Now, there are some programs on the web for Windows users. And some have great features. Some have great prices. But the features you're told you'll love are the ones you never use. And when you want to do something simple, it isn't easy. Plus there's no dedicated community. Help is haphazard. Worse, the inexpensive software on the web isn't supported by your local dealer.

Embrilliance is here to fix all that. And we've got a great "First Program" for you.

It is called "Essentials."

Using your Mac or PC (regardless of Windows version) you can:

  • Merge embroidery designs in almost any format, even while they are in .ZIPs.
  • Resize, with stitch recalculation.
  • Colorize.
  • Convert Thread Brands on your designs.
  • Add lettering in Multi-Line, Monogram and Circle modes. You can even spiral text or make really LARGE letters.
  • Save in your machine's format.
  • Save working files so that you can edit text later.
  • Overlap designs and have significant understitching removed.
  • Run a simulator to show how your designs will sew out.
  • Group/ Ungroup
  • Change or remove individual colors in a design.
  • And have many chances to Undo you work.
  • Also, there are special designs called Interactive designs that can be used, and some even come with the program. These designs calculate their stitches as you play with them for super results!
  • Intel Mac OSX 10.5 and later, including Yosemite (current as of this writing).
  • Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Vista 32/64, Windows 7, 8/8.1/10 32/64
  • Embrilliance is the only brand in the World that offers embroidery software running native on Mac and Windows 32 and Windows 64 (so it's faster)!

Wondering if it works with files for your machine? Yes it does!

Embrilliance Essentials can read:

.ART, .ART42, .ART50, .ART60, .CND,
.CSD, .DST, .DSZ, .EMB, .EMD,
.EXP, .EXP+, .HUS, .JAN, .JEF,
.JEF+, .PCS, .PCM, .PES, .PHB,
.PHC, .PHD, .SEW, .SHV, .TAP,
.VIP, .VP3, .XXX

Embrilliance Essentials can write:

.CSD, .DST, .DSZ, .EXP, .EXP+,
.HUS, .JEF, .PCS, .PCM, .PES,
.SEW, .SHV, .TAP, .VIP, .VP3,
.XXX

And it also includes special features to enable Mac users to write USB devices and floppy disks for use with embroidery machines, including Designer 1.

Applique files can be saved as .SVG, .PLT, .FCM (ScanNCut) and .studio (Silhouette).

Embrilliance Essentials includes 12 fonts.

Hello, I would like to purchase a program for my Mac to convert to EMB. But it looks like neither Emb. Brilliance and Convert It! will actually save to EMB. Is this correct or can you help? Also I have been reading that all designs start out as a EMB so maybe I do not need to convert.

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Nicole. If you are talking about .EMB format, that is a proprietary format offered by the embroidery company Wilcom, so a file MUST be created or saved from Wilcom digitizing software to have that format.

If I've misunderstood and you used "EMB" as shorthand to mean "embroidery" format, that is dependent on which embroidery format you need. If that is the case, let me know which embroidery machine you have.

Can I use my PES fonts I already own, to create monograms and words ?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Hi Angela,

Thanks for the great questions! Yes, you can use the PES fonts you already own. To use them in Essentials, the method is to open each letter file individually, and merge them together to make a design which you then would save for stitching on your machine. Embrilliance also makes a product called AlphaTricks which will let you turn your PES fonts into keyboard fonts, which makes them much simpler to use within Embrilliance software. Here's a video demonstrating both methods. If you get keyboard (bx format) fonts, you can use them in Essentials; you would only need AlphaTricks if you wanted to convert your own PES fonts into keyboard fonts.

Many of the companies which have sold PES fonts in the past are now offering the .bx format, which is the keyboard font format for Embrilliance. You can ask them for the .bx for a font you have already bought in another format, and many times they will provide it at no extra cost.

Where do you find the serial numbers for the embrilliance essentials and thumbnailer that I just downloaded??????

You have done a great job of telling how to insert the numbers but not where they are!

Hi, Lynne. Thanks for the question. The serial numbers are listed in the box at the top of the page you downloaded the Embrilliance products from. I will email you copies, as well.

Elsie Lewis B.

I am attempting to monogram for the first time. I have found that I need monogramming software, Will Embrilliance Essentials allow (PES format) me to do basic 3 letter monograms?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Elsie. I believe we spoke earlier about the Embrilliance software. It looks like you were able to successfully place your order-- that's great! Here's a video with some information about lettering in Embrilliance:

https://www.embroidery.com/help.ec?docid=2976&efid=463

Monograms are super easy to use in Essentials. Basically, you'll purchase any monogram of your choice (as long as it comes in BX format) and then follow the instructions in the video above. (The only difference is that your lettering will come up in the standard monogram format, with the middle letter larger than the right and left letters).

Here's a link to all of the monograms currently available in BX format from Embroidery.com:

https://www.embroidery.com/BXfonts.ec?search=monogram

If there's a particular monogram that we carry that you want in BX format, let me know and I may be able to get it added.

I was wondering what BX format is for. I have a Brother Machine that has PES format. I save my designs to USB and use that in my machine. Will Embrilliance work for me and again will BX Format work and please explain what that is.

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Hi, Betty.

Yes, Embrilliance will work for you with the Brother PES format and your USB setup.

If you want to do lettering in Embrilliance, the BX format was made so you can easily create lettering: words, monograms, etc, without having to place them one-at-a time. Here's more explanation on that:

I have a Windows 10 computer, a Viking Designer 1 embroidery machine with a floppy drive and many designs I have downloaded. Can I use Embrillance on this computer for this machine and use my designs. Is a dongle needed?

Hi Marina,

Heather is right -- Embrilliance Essentials will help you create a Designer 1 compatible disk. There is no dongle required for Embrilliance software, hurrah!

Hi, Marina. Thanks for writing. Yes, you can use Embrilliance to create Viking Designer 1 compatible disks on your Windows 10 computer from your existing designs. You will need a floppy drive (either internal or external). I do not believe you will need a dongle. You can find some instructions here:

I have a lot of designs in VP3 format, can I resize them successfully in Essentials and have them work properly on my Viking?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

Yes, you should be able to do that, Bob. I do recommend doing a test sewout any time you size a design, though, just to make sure you are happy with the results.

Louise J.

Can you add BX fonts to the free Embrilliance version?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Hi Louise,

Thanks for your question. Yes! You can add BX fonts to the free Embrilliance version, which is called "Express".

Express only reads .bx files. It won't read any other embroidery format. The purpose of Express is to let people use .bx fonts (easy keyboard lettering) without purchasing software.
Here's a video that shows how it works:
