I have found this machine on Buy, Sell or Trade. It’s “like new”. They want an offer and I can’t find one anywhere to try to come up with an offer. Can you tell me anything about it or what it may be eirth

Hi Phyllis, I've used this machine model. I can tell you it is approximately 18 years old. When new, it sold for about $100, as an entry-level machine. It has some embroidery files already loaded on it, and can do frames and a few alphabets. If you want to be embroidering designs from other sources, such as from the Internet, you need to have the card writer and specific Brother card for this machine. There are after-market products available, so if that's not included, have a look at the Vikant Ultimate box for example, and its card. I hope this information helps you come up with your bid.

The machine that I had failed within a couple of years; the motherboard had an error that meant that it would no longer stop for color changes; it still stitched though.

Hi all, I’m looking for some embroidery hoops for the Brother PE-150 machine. The machine is as it was when it came out of the box when my mum bought it about 25 years ago, BRAND NEW, NEVER USED. Sadly my mum who is now 90 is and always has been a shocker for buying things and never using them! But she’s also renowned for putting things away wherever she can fit them and has consequently lost the hoops that came with the machine!! I have managed to purchase a large one but just can’t locate any others. I was wondering if anyone out there may have some that are surplus to requirements, perhaps because their machine is broken or damaged. I would be so so grateful and would be happy to pay?
looking forward to hearing from you if anyone can help.

Hi Sue,

I can think of one website that might possibly have hoops on it for the Brother PE-150. Here's a link to that website: https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/ If you're not able to find anything there, then maybe someone who sees your post will have some hoops they can sell you. Best of luck, and have a great day!

Hi Inge,

Thanks for checking! I don't see a compatible Snap Hoop to the PE-150 on our compatibility chart from DIME. (the Snap Hoop manufacturer) I'd recommend checking with DIME, in case they have a hoop they're planning for the PE-150. You can contact DIME at 888-739-0555 or [email protected]. Have a great day!

I have a PE 150 still in the box. Will it strait stitch? Are there any attachments for a foot?

Kirsten S.

Hi Marjorie, I don't remember what is in the box for this machine as far as foot options (I think there might be an extra embroidery foot), but I can tell you it doesn't stitch straight the same way a sewing machine does. It will only stitch with and embroidery hoop attached. It does have some pre-programmed basic shapes that you could use to creatively get a straight stitch for a short length (4"), but you would also need to contrive to hoop whatever it is that you want to straight stitch on.

For example, if you want to do a hem, you would maybe hoop some soluble or tearaway stabilizer along with your pre-pressed fabric for hemming, and then stitch a part of a straight stitch rectangle to complete 4" of hem, then move your fabric and re-hoop to complete the next 4". As a technique, it's completely impractical for larger projects, but can be used in a pinch or for smaller items.

This machine comes with a number of embroidery designs built in, besides the basic shapes, and that's what it's really designed to be used for. You can also get more designs from the Internet (on sites like Embroidery.com, for example) and stitch them on this machine, if you have the card reader/writer for it.

I just got a PE- 150 do you carry any cards for it?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Heather B.

We do not, Toni. If you're looking for pre-loaded cards, please check sites such as https://www.allbrands.com/ or Ebay. If you're looking for a blank card and transfer system, we can recommend the Ultimate Box Plus and Ultimate Card Type I, both available from http://vikant-emb.com/. Please let us know if you have further questions.

I too have a PE-150. I received embroidery cards from Japan, when I insert the cards into machine the designs do not appear. Are there any products that are able to read/save designs from my cards? They are so cute.

Thank you

Hi Jana,

You probably have used cards before, right? And you know that the designs will only appear if you touch the card icon on the machine? If not, try that.

If that isn't the issue, I suggest looking back at the description of the cards. Some cards will fit a machine, but not be compatible with it. If you find that the card was written for a different type of machine or format, then you'll have a better clue as to what type of card reader is needed.

You can purchase the PED-BASIC set. Any card that supports .pes will work.. Also this machine can only size up to 4x4

Hi, Snowy. Thanks for the question. At Embroidery.com, we sell the Ultimate Box and Ultimate Card, which are compatible with your machine. I'd recommend the Ultimate Box Basic or Plus, along with the Ultimate Box Type I. We do not sell any hoops for your machine. You might try AllBrands.com for recommended hoops and supplies for your specific machine. At Embroidery.com, we do sell a large variety of supplies such as designs, stabilizers, thread, applique materials, and much more that can be used on your machine.

I have a pe 150 that was given to me. It came with the PED Basic card writer and software for PE Design LIte. It seems as though I need a different card writer for the Design Lite and is not available without buying the whole package - which is expensive and I already have the CDs. Any suggestions or do you know where I can get just the card writer for PE Design Lite?

Any card that supports .pes will work.. Also this machine can only size up to 4x4. I had contact with Brother and it may not be the software or card, if your size is more than 4x4 the machine will give you an error saying this card cannot work

Hi, Susan. You could try websites like Ebay to see if you can buy a used card writer. Otherwise, if you need another option, I can recommend the Ultimate Box Basic, which we carry here at Embroidery.com.

I am new to embroidery, purchased a beginner machine to start learning. It has the PED basic software with card writer. My question is, what editing software can I use compatible with the brother embroidery card to make stitching out names or combining designs with what I have? I have downloaded designs from the internet with success, but was wondering what I can use to making names easier to do in the downloaded designs. My machine does not have a USB connection so I have to use the brother card.

You can also buy Embird which works with all programs. You can save the file on your computer and write it to the card. They have font's built in but all modules cost separately. But I was able to buy a little at a time that way.

Also for the power cord go to the Goodwill. They sell them for 1.99 at all of them. I have many of them.

Hi, Linda. The answer to your question is two-fold. You would first need a transfer box to transfer your designs from your computer to your embroidery machine. I would recommend the Ultimate Box Basic or Plus with a Type I Ultimate Card for you.

https://www.embroidery.com/Vikant.ec

Lettering software is the second thing you would need. I would highly recommend the Embrilliance Essentials as it makes lettering so much easier than any other lettering software I've found.

Hi Helen and thanks for the question. If you are looking for a blank card, we sell the Ultimate Card, which is compatible with this machine. www.ibroidery.com is also a good source for pre-loaded Brother embroidery cards.
