Doris, do you still have the embroidery parts from the PC6500? I bought a used one and they were not included. Hope you found another machine before now.

Hi Char,
I am sorry to hear that your ankle shank adapter is broken! While we don't sell machine parts here, there is a magnificent online store that just might have what you are looking for. Check out SewingPartsOnline.com. The particular link attached will take you to parts that have been guaranteed to fit the Brother PC-6500. Their customer service might be able to help you find what you are looking for. I hope this information helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions, and have a great day.

Hi Doris, I hope someone here matches your needs.
I haven't seen this model for sale lately. I hope you are checking Ebay and any refurbished sewing sources you know of local to you. Here's a link to similar items for sale. I can't endorse any of these, as I haven't tried them, but I offer it for informational purposes.

hi I recently bought a pc6500. Can designs be put on a compact flash to use in this machine or will I have to purchase a certain kind of card for it?
Heather B.
Hi, Patty. It is my understanding that the PC6500 takes Brother memory cards. That being the case, I can think of a couple of options for sourcing cards:
1) Type "Brother pc6500 memory cards" into your favorite search engine, such as Google, to get some options. These are getting a bit harder to find, so some other options are AllBrands.com, Ebay, or Etsy.
2) If you want to create your own cards from designs you download, we'd recommend purchasing a reader/writer box, such as the Ulitimate Box. For you, we'd recommend the Ultimate Box Plus, along with a Type I Ultimate Card. We carry the Ultimate Box Plus here at Embroidery.com but no longer carry Type I cards. If you want to buy both card and box, please check the manufacturer's website (here's the link): http://vikant-emb.com/
Please let us know if you have any questions; otherwise, have a great day!

Hi, Diane. I can think of two options: either to replace or repair your card reader. If you want to look into repairing it, please check with the card reader's manufacturer to see if that is possible. As far as replacing it goes, we can recommend for you the Ultimate Box. If you own the Brother PC 6500, we'd recommend for you the Ultimate Box Plus and a Type I memory card. The Ultimate Box Plus can be purchased from Embroidery.com, but if you want to order a Type I card, you'd need to go through the manufacturer (they sell both the box and card, if that's most convenient):
P.S. I will email this information to you, as well, per your request.
Sincerely,
~Heather

How many needles/colors of thread can I load on the PC 6500 at a time?
Heather B.
Hi, Judy. The PC-6500 is a 1-needle embroidery machine. Thanks for the question!

Hi, I was given a Brother PC-6500 (Pacesetter) embroidery machine. The Ultimate Box and also a PE Design Box came with it. Neither had a software cd. Does anyone know how I might be able to get designs from my laptop to the embroidery machine. I tried downloading from their respective sites but nothing works. Perhaps it's too old to work on my pc which is only 4-5 yrs old?? I have a Babylock Spirit which uses a USB and a BL Ellageo which uses a floppy and small card. Thought I'd be able to save via the old BL which has a slot for the small card (like the 6500) but it doesn't. I can't find any help concerning this, I'm sure cause it's so old. Hope someone might make sense of my rambling. (Happy Thanksgiving) Thanks, js
Heather B.
Hi, Jean. We don't sell PE Design at Embroidery.com so I don't know too much about how that works, although I would guess that being primarily a software, you would probably need to re-purchase if you don't have the disks.
You might get by with just using the Ultimate Box to start with, unless you're wanting to do a lot of embroidery. I don't think the Vikant software has changed so much that it shouldn't work on your 4-5 year old computer. Does your Ultimate Box come with a USB port or a Serial Port?
I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, too.

Heather, Thank you for your response. The Ultimate Box has a usb cord that I can attach to my laptop. I downloaded from the site but don't get the 'full screen' to be able to save anything. When I open Vikant, I see a message that 'no Ultimate Box is detected'. Thanks, js

Hi Jean,
For the PED box, you will need the PED-Basic software, which Brother makes available free from their web site. In fact, I DO have the disc, and am advised to download it from their site whenever I need to re-install anyway. Apparently it's been updated for newer computers.
http://support.brother.com/g/b/downloadtop.aspx?c=...
My machine is much older, and I am able to use the PED-Basic with it still. I don't have experience with the Ultimate Box with a Brother machine.
Once you have PED-Basic installed, restart your computer, then the PED-Basic software should appear on your desktop. Then you plug in your PED card writer and open the software. It will allow you to browse the folders on your computer to find embroidery designs. Then you can transfer them to the card. When you do that, it erases whatever was on the card before, so I use the card as a transfer device, and not for storage.
Best wishes with your machine!
Jean S.
Kirsten S. You are so very fine! It worked and tomorrow I will be like it's Christmas morning! I had downloaded the PED 'trial' and it wouldn't let me 'save' anything. At first (after using the download that you sent me) I got a message that the card would not work, but evidently my design was a bit too large. As soon as I pulled one up that was no larger than 5x7, it worked. Thank you so very much!
Kirsten S.
Hooray! I'm glad to hear it worked for you. Merry Christmas :)
Jean S.
Kirsten, thank you for your response. I've been out of the loop for a few days but I've going to try your suggestion. I will let you know if this works.
Heather, the Ultimate Box 'green light' does not light up so perhaps it just doesn't work.

Rabbit M.
New here. I have a Brother pc 6500 that has limited fonts. The store owner told me today they don't carry cards or Brother machines any more. My machine was purchased in 2003 and is very outdated. Machines now use a usb port, not cards.
My question is do they sell embroidery cards for other brands/models that might be compatible with my machine? I'm looking for a card with fonts/scripts on it. Can't justify buying a new, updated usb machine ($1900!) when i'm only needing additional fonts. Evidently my pc 6500 never had other cards with fonts on it besides the one I bought with my machine.
Can any one help? Thanks. Rabbit
Heather B.
Hi Rabbit,
Thanks for the questions.
If you're interested in a blank card and transfer box, I can recommend the Ultimate Box Basic or Plus and a Type I Ultimate Card, which are available here at Embroidery.com:
https://www.embroidery.com/Vikant.ec
If you require pre-loaded cards, instead, you can visit Brother's website for embroidery cards, https://www.ibroidery.com/. Alternately, you can type "Brother pc 6500 embroidery cards" into your favorite search engine, such as Google, to get some options.
I hope this helps.
