Hello, I have a Bernina Deco 600 that I purchased at an Estate Sale. When I started it up and tried to do a test piece It says to check thread or check broken needle. But, I have changed the needle to brand new ones and thread. Also looked under bobbin case if there was any fluff. There was none as I also oiled it as well. Any advice on what I should do next or check? I was told that the lady that used it kept everything in very well condition because she was an avid sewer.

I am hoping I didn't waste my money on this machine if it doesn't work at all. When I purchased it, it had all sorts of notes as what is on there and to always turn off the machine first before inserting a card in.

You can take the plates on the front of this machine off to check if the inside is clean, oil the shaft and also the gears you will see on the right. Are you using the thread that came with the machine? Sometimes the thread is wonky and that's a problem, if it's loopy when you hold it up, it's not good thread. I have owned several of these machines over the years, they are good machines, and if the gal that owned it wrote notes, she probably took really good care of it.

Hi Liezel. I suggest you check the upper thread path very carefully. With moving it home, something that wasn't causing a problem before could have moved into the path where the sensors are picking up an issue. Needle nose pliers and a tiny clean detail brush, like for makeup or painting, can help you get those bits out, if necessary.

Also I suggest checking the manual for the type of bobbin and how to insert it; make sure that is correct,

If that's not the problem, you could also have it checked at a machine service store; sometimes the sensors get faulty, and that's my next guess. You might be able to turn the sensors off, as a stop-gap solution, but when they're working well, they are very helpful, so I would suggest having them fixed if that's the issue.

I have a Bernina Deco 600 and it has died, I would like to purchase another if anyone knows any for sale. Also I would be interested in a Bernina Deco 500 or 650 if they will work with the 600 cards and hoops.

Are you still needing the Bernette Deco 600? I have one and would be willing to sell. It worked just fine the last time I used it. I have manuals and many disks to go with it. I can plug it in and check it out, if you are still interested.

Hi Christopher,

Vikant Ultimate box may be the solution. They make card writer boxes and cards compatible with a number of machines.

Hi Tina, I often see the cards for 500, 600 and 650 all listed as working with any 5x7" pes Bernina machine, the same with the hoops -- they are interchangeable; the machines are very similar.

Here's a 500 for sale:

Here's a few 600s for sale.

My friend gave me a Deco 600 and it doesn’t work. Repair guy says it’s the mother board .. I bought another one on eBay and that doesn’t work either. It says “check upper and lower thread for breakage. The thread isn’t broken. Anyone know

!. How to fix this error

2 any other machines that use the same hoops and card’s. I have a whole box of them.

I see Deco 600’s on eBay but the shipping is ridiculous.

Hi Beverly,
If the thread isn't broken, and the error is the only thing stopping it from stitching, you might look into how to turn off the thread sensors. Some machines have that ability in their menu. Or it could just be that the thread path is very cluttered with dust and thread debris, and a good thorough cleaning will fix the issue. I don't have this model, and am not sure about it.

It's my understanding that Deco 500 and 650 also use the same cards and hoops. Good luck!

I know the machine is clean, but I will give your suggestion about disconnecting the sensor. Thanks for answering.

Hi Jeanette,

If you have a Bernina dealer nearby, first shot reach out to them for help.

Secondly, I see that Bernina has the Deco 500 manual available online digitally. Since it is a similar machine, it may be useful to you, even though it's not quite the same: https://www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Out-of-Pr...

Sewing Machine Manual.com has this one available to buy in PDF: https://www.sewingmachinemanual.com/bernina-600-de...

Bernina Manuals.com also offers it in PDF or hard copy: https://www.berninamanuals.com/Bernina_Instruction...

I haven't used either of the for-pay options myself, and can't speak for the quality.

hello do you know where I can purchase a memory card for the berenia series 600

Renee,

I don't personally know of any place to purchase original Bernina memory cards for series 600. But if you're interested in writing your own cards for this machine with designs you could download from this site and others, you might be interested in one of the Vikant Ultimate Cards which is compatible with this machine. https://vikant-emb.com/products

Kirsten,
I was thinking about purchasing Bernini Embroidery 600, the person did not have a memory card, and selling for $400, after further researching I can purchase it for $200 on eBay. Does it normally comes with a memory card for the price of $200? I will keep searching. Thanks for the quick response, I am glad I did not purchase it.

Hi Renee, great question. I'm sorry I don't watch the selling price of the Deco 600; I am not sure how often it sells with or without memory cards, or what the prices tend to run at. It is not being sold new now, so we don't have that comparison to make, and individual sellers will set a price that makes sense to them, not always a price that is comparable to other offers.

Hi Kitty,

I just recently purchased a deco 600. Works perfectly in every way that I’ve tested, but it doesn't have a memory card. Which basically makes it useless to me since it seems to be impossible find one second hand. I purchased it for $125, and id be willing to sell it just to get my money back so that I can buy a different one, if you are still in the market. Please let me know, thank you

  1. I have a lightly used Bernette Deco 600 that is great condition. I have thread madeira & sulky (about 25 total), cards 1, 12, 13, and 20, 3 different hoops which includes frame L, the baseball hat hoop, deco wizard and customizer deluxe software. Let me know if interested.

Hi, Kirty. Thanks for writing. I don't personally know of any for sale, but you could check for used sources, such as Ebay:
