Susan, yes the animals are sold separately. If you already own some 4" animal designs, you could use them, instead. (The animals pictured are just to give you an idea of what you could do.)

I am unclear about this post. Are the designs to be put on the pillows included with the packet of just the shape for the pillow. It looks like the animal designs are separate which woiuld make the whole package nearly $40.
