I recently saw a beautiful footstool with a not-so beautiful price tag that motivated me to attempt a design set reminiscent of the style and not the price! So here for your viewing pleasure is...The Stoolie!

The set requires a 6x10 hoop and features a series of four "wedges" created entirely in the hoop that are then sewn together to form the top of the stool, or a pillow top, as shown. Each wedge is built on hooped muslin and features a dense fleece batting, true 1/4" pieced seams, and lots of rich decorative stitching for a crazy-quilt effect. The tutorial then walks you through the procedure step-by-step to complete the footstool, or use your favorite pillowmaking technique to complete the pillow.

The completed footstool surface or pillow top measures 14 1/2" inches square, and the height of the stool is determined by the amount of foam used in the final construction, as well as the size of the legs used. And an added bonus: the panels of the pillow or footstool are perfect for jelly rolls or charm packs, and just 1 additional coordinating fat quarter will complete all the main triangular sections!
