Well, the holidays are past, and isn't it time to put away the Christmas fabrics, dig out some bright spring colors, and settle in with a new fun project to get though the winter months still ahead? I've always admired the traditional wedding ring quilts but dreaded the thought of all those templates and turning, so...how about doing them in a 6-inch hoop?
This set consists of 11 different circular pieces (referred to as "blocks"), each featuring a center motif, some with heart-themed applique and crazy quilt stitches, others with quilting in distinctive patterns, all with a rich satin edge. Each is stitched on dissolvable stabilizer with batting or fleece, depending on your plan for the project's usage, and on 2 layers of fabric.
The back fabric frames the motif, and the blocks join to form the scallop pattern on the finished project. The blocks are joined in the hoop to form columns, then the columns are sewn together to complete the project. The columns can be as long as you wish to create a wallhanging, table runner, topper, pillow (as shown), or even an entire quilt! Add embellishments if you wish to the intersections, and you have created a new masterpiece that is sure to chase away the winter blues!
