1:
This project uses the dimensional applique "Medium Dimensional flower petals" (JM46b), and Small Dimensional flower petals (JM46c). Applique stitching goes faster if you pre-cut your applique pieces. For this example, I used eight small flower pieces, and seven medium flower pieces. (See the related project "Making Applique Templates" if you need help pre-cutting your applique pieces).
2:
Using an embroidery adhesive such as 505 Spray 'n Fix, spray adhesive on the backside of each pre-cut applique piece, and it's ready to be used.
3:
Complete the embroidery for each applique flower, adding the applique fabric as you go. Embroider on a water soluble stabilizer.
4:
Make as many petals as you like.
5:
Wash the flower petals to remove the stabilizer, and allow them to dry.
6:
Stack petals into flowers. In this example, most of the flowers were created with one medium petal with a small petal piece on top. The flower on the front center of the basket is one small petal piece.
7:
On a tear away stabilizer, embroider flower centers (JM47) through the petal stacks. In the front section of the basket, the center flower is made by putting two finished two-petal flowers side-by-side, and placing one small petal piece slightly lower, between the two flowers, and then embroidering the center design (JM47) through all the layers.
8:
Use glue or thread to attach the flowers to the basket. In this basket, the front flowers were attached with glue, and the flowers on the handle were sewn on.
