Valentine Frame

Valentine Frame

Frame your loved ones! This project will show you how to make magnetic picture frames that can be placed on the refrigerator, file cabinet, or any other metal object.

Step 1:

You will need valentine frame designs from Starbird's Valentines Frames design pack, tear-away stabilizer, applique fabric cut to match your design size (large: 6 3/4" x 8 1/4", medium 5 3/4" x 7 1/4", small 4 1/2" x 5"), card stock to hold the picture in place (large 6 1/2" x 8 1/2", medium 5 1/2" x 7 1/2", small 4 1/4" x 5 1/4"), embroidery spray adhesive such as 505 Spray'n Fix, double sided tape, 1/2" wide magnetic strip, and of course you will need a picture to frame.

Step 2:

Choose the design you would like to embroider, and then cut the appliqué piece and card stock to match. (See step 1 for the correct sizes).

Step 3:

With an embroidery spray adhesive, layer 4 pieces of tear away backing together.

Step 4:

Hoop all 4 pieces.

Step 5:

Embroider the design until the color stop that says "dieline & border". You will see the dieline around the outside of the frame. Remove the hoop from the machine. (Leave the design in the hoop, as you will be embroidering the rest of the design.)

Step 6:

Now you will spray adhesive on the corners of the appliqué piece. Spray just enough so that the appliqué piece will stay on the bottom of the design when it is on the machine.

Step 7:

Line up the appliqué piece with the dieline at the bottom of the design and press firmly. The top of the embroidered design will show. (That is where you will be inserting the card stock and photo when the design is completed.)

Step 8:

Carefully place the hoop back on the machine making sure that the appliqué piece does not shift or fall off. Then continue embroidering the design.

Step 9:

After the design is done embroidering, remove it from the hoop and carefully remove the tear away backing from the outside of the design.

Step 10:

Carefully remove the tear away backing from the inside of the picture frame.

Step 11:

Place your picture in the center of the card stock and adhere with double sided tape. Then gently pull the appliqué piece away from the frame and slide the card stock into the frame.

Step 12:

You are almost done. Cut two strips of the magnet, peel the paper off from the back of the magnet and place the magnetic strips on the top and bottom of the completed frame.
