Hemingworth Thread Video

Hemingworth thread is a trilobal high quality, poly-select, 40 weight thread, wound with 1000 meter per spool.

Quality embroidery depends on thread that is strong, vibrant, colorfast, and consistent. That's what makes Hemingworth Thread so remarkable.

For decades, embroiderers have faced the challenge of effectively storing embroidery thread, and as any embroiderer can attest, unraveling and untangling are all too familiar and frustrating problems. Hemingworth's patented protective cap solves these problems. It preserves thread quality by blocking dust, oil and UV rays. It also makes the thread easy to handle and store. The removable stopper traps the thread tail, preventing unraveling and tangling during storage.

While the thread is being used, the opening at the top of the cap provides a smooth, easy thread feed from any direction, decreasing snagging and thread breaks. As your thread consistently feeds from the spool to the machine without tangling, snagging, or unraveling, your embroidery process will become streamlined and pleasant, allowing you to create lasting works of arts that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

I would like to use the metallic thread on my Bernina 880 and have not been able to get it to work. Do you have any suggestions? The thread breaks even with the tension lowered, which is what I do with other metallic threads. I've slowed the machine down, etc. I love the Hemingworth thread and would like to use the metallic.

Hi, Debora.

Thanks for the question. Embroidering with metallic threads can be tricky. Here's some tips:

1) Slow down you machine. (350-400 stitch per minute is recommended.)
2) Use a thread stand, such as this one.
3) Watch your design density. Metallics sew better with less dense designs.
4) Check the thread path to make sure it is clear with no thread stuck there. Also check the bobbin for debris and adjust the bobbin and top thread tension.
5) Finally, make sure your thread is not old. Metallic threads age quickly, so newer thread is highly recommend.

I hope this helps!

No, they are not recommend for use with other thread brands, Barbara. We sell them in case customers lose their original top(s) and need to replace them. Thanks for the good question.

Hey, I was wanting to watch the video on your thread because I've never tried it before. So I followed a link you provided for someone to watch but there's not a video there. I'm going to search your website but could you please post the link in case I can't find it? Thanks! :)

Hi Kathy, I just updated the page to play the video from YouTube rather than using Adobe Flash. Thanks for your feedback which will improve the experience for all.

Hi, Kathy. Thanks for the question. I checked and the video is here and functioning. I recommend updating your Adobe Flash Player to the most recent version. Once you've done so, come back and you'll see a little triangle in the center of the black video box (above) that you can click on to play the video. Alternately, you can view the video by going to our YouTube page:
