Embroidery Bear

Embroidery Bear

Most blank items to embroider are flat, and if you want to create something stuffed, you usually wind up sewing it yourself. The Embroidery Bear is different. It's fully constructed -- you don't even need to put in a seam -- yet it's easy to embroider.

Step 1:

Mark the desired placement for your embroidery design on the Embroidery Bear.

Step 2:

Unzip the Embroidery Bear, and take out the stuffing pillow.

Step 3:

Use clothespins to hold the zipper edges out of the way; this makes it easy to avoid stitching through the back of the bear.

Step 4:

When hooping the Embroidery Bear, it's helpful to hoop at the edge of a surface and allow the bear's tail and head to drape over one side, keeping the bear's head out of the hooping area. For my hooping table, I used the workstation extension of my Koala cabinet because it is small enough to easily reach across while hooping near the edge. For stabilizer, a sheet of medium weight cut away stabilizer works well.

Step 5:

Tape a piece of clear Hide It Permanent Topper across the embroidery area.

Step 6:

Since most embroidery machines are best suited to embroidering the bear with the head facing you, rather than toward the back of the machine, rotate your embroidery design 180 degrees.

Step 7:

As you embroider the design on the Embroidery Bear, the clear topper keeps the embroidery visible over the fur.

Step 8:

When the embroidery is finished, simply tear away the topper, and remove the hoop and clothespins.

Step 9:

Cut away the excess stabilizer.

Step 10:

Just put the stuffing pillow back inside the bear, and zip it back up.

Step 11:

There's our embroidered bear. This will be the easiest embroidered stuffed animal that you have ever made.
