10 Minute Lace Bookmarks with Tulle
Calling all bookworms! Kinship Kreations has the perfect project for you. This lace bookmarks make a simple, unique project. The design is sewn on solvy and tulle for the freestanding effect. Then a ribbon is added.
1:
If you want both sides of your bookmark to show the same color, make sure you fill your bobbin with the same thread as you use on the upper thread.
2:
I then cut a piece of tulle the same size and sandwiched in between the badgemaster. All three materials were hooped: solvy on the bottom, tulle in the middle, and solvy on the top.
3:
Sew your bookmark design. Once you remove it from the hoop, carefully cut around it making sure you do not cut any threads. I carefully cut a little hole in the middle of the top part of the bookmark that looks like a loop. This was made so you could loop some ribbon through the loop if desired (shown at right).
4:
I soak my bookmark in hot water after I cut it out. I do not recommend holding it under the running water as you might loosen some threads. After your solvy is dissolved, take it out of the water and pat it with a towel. Let it dry flat.
5:
After it has dried, you can run ribbon through the top loop.
6:
There! You've made a lovely lace bookmark, suitable for use as a gift, or as a companion for your next journey through a book, and all in under 10 minutes!
