Carolyn H.

Hello, working on Merry and Bright tiling project from OESD. My first three tiles came out without any issues. Beginning the on the fourth tile I noticed that the number of thread changes on the machine do not match the printed instructions. The stitch count is different also. It varies considerably, some are twice what the printed direction say it should be. This is an issue I have not dealt with before! Is this a common issue? Could the design itself be the problem? Looking forward to all info that may help, thanks in advance.

Hi Carolyn,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your question! This is a problem that I would recommend bringing to OESD directly. I would guess that either the design or the instructions may need to be updated. On the other hand, if there are more color stops than there are colors, you may find this video helpful. Thanks again for reaching out. Have a great day!

hi

can I transfer a design from brother n90e to a brother v3 machine ?or is there some where online I can down load original files.

Please Login to comment on this post.

Leah W.

Hi Kathleen,

To my knowledge, there isn't a way to transfer designs from one machine to another. Usually designs are transferred from a computer to the machine via a USB stick. So, like you suggested, you may be able to get the design onto your V3 if you can find the original online somewhere. If it is a design that came with the machine than unfortunately, you probably won't be able to find it, though you may be able to find lots of similar designs. What are you looking for? Maybe I can help you find something that would work!

Remote Job Seeking as an Embroidery Digitizer :)

My greetings to everyone!

I hope you are all having a great day.
First of all, to give you some background, I’m an undergraduate student, and a self-taught embroidery digitizer.
My experience
I have worked for some clients from different parts of the world on social media.
Their designs ranged from simple to complex and fortunately I now consider myself capable of handling any design that comes my way. Besides, I enjoy what I do!
I have also worked on american football (logos and team names) uniforms for a factory.
Because it's my first post here, I couldn't add a link to my portfolio.
I know most people prefer on-site employees but I'm physically disabled so I have no other choice.
I am in need of urgent work and would really appreciate any help!!!
Hoping to hear from someone……soon.

Hi Umer,

Thank you for reaching out with your question. We are more of a craft store for hobby embroiderers rather than a digitizing service. However, if you would like to send more information to [email protected], we will have your information in our email records so that if the need ever arises, we can search for people who can provide the services that we need. I would also recommend reaching out to Universal Digitizing to see if they are hiring. Best of luck as you begin your new adventure. Please let me know if you have any questions and have a great day!

I am new. I have a Janome 500e. I like to quilt small projects on it. I have a file that is 6" x 6". I want to make it 8" x 11". It is a random design and won't matter changing the aspect ratio. What software would I need to do that?

I am not looking to go pro or start a business. I am a 77 year old cancer survivor just tinkering around for fun. Thanks, Bret

Hi Bret,

Congratulations on overcoming your battle with cancer! I'm sending so much love your way for the journey that you have been on. Any way, I would recommend using either Embroidery Tool Shed or Embrilliance Essentials. Just be aware that it is generally not recommended to resize an embroidery design up or down by more than 20% because it can sometimes impact the way that it stitches out. I hope this information helps! Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions, and have a great day.

Hello,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place. I'm looking for some advice around selling an industrial (I think) embroidery machine, in South East UK.

I've been asked to sell this machine on behalf of someone who can't use it anymore, but used it for many years as a business, but I'm unsure where to advertise this or how much she should expect it to sell for.

The machine is a Melco 00633401, 1994, it has 10 needles I believe, and is about 1m wide/deep, 1.5m tall. It has many different hoops and attachments, and is in full working order. It seems to run from either floppy disks or USB stick, and comes with a box of many predone patterns, backing fabrics and threads.

I'd appreciate any and all advice about how to go about this, or where to look for more info.

Thank you!

Hi Isabel,

How kind of you to help your friend sell her machine! I am glad that you posted about it on our forum. I would recommend looking around online to see if there are any other used machines like it that you could use to formulate a price range. I have found that sometimes machines like this are listed on eBay. Once you know about how much you want to sell it for, go ahead and list it on a marketplace such as Facebook Marketplace, eBay, or other common online market places where you live. I hope this little bit of information gets you pointed in the right direction. Best of luck to you as you sell the machine!

Hi there, I am new here. I am looking for a repair technician for an Ultramatic II Combo Chenille and embroidery machine. I have so many error codes popping up and have no clue how to fix them. Machine does not have a manual either…. Would love some info and/or help.

Hi Nikki, You might try a google search for "machine embroidery repair technicians near me"
If you're looking for the manual manuals.lib is often a useful spot, or here is one that might be the correct manual (in German) http://www.occaphot-ch.com/bernina-oldies-info/gal...

Hi, I posted this in the wrong forum earlier so I’m reposting here. I’m new to embroidery and this forum .I have the Brother SE1900. I am monogramming a letter on napkins and having an issue with needle leaving holes along the edges. The fabric is cotton, a little thicker than duck fabric closer to a denim texture. I am using a 75/10 needle. I have tried doubling my stabilizer , one is medium tear away and the other is cut away. That helped slightly. I have hooped and floated it with no change. Tension seems to be ok. I honestly don’t know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated

Kirsten S.

Hi Mary, make sure you are using a needle that is labelled as "sharp" that should help. I would suggest also a polymesh type of stabilizer.
You didn't mention whether you've made size changes to the monogram; that can also be an issue. If the monogram was made too small, sometimes that can make the holes on the edges more pronounced.

Hi! I'm new to the forum and new to machine embroidery in general. I have been struggling to replicate a small plushie pattern but I'm just not getting the professional finish on anything. I double back with tearaway/cutaway with a needle size of 11/75 on a 100% polyester velcro doll fabric, and I am testing out Hatch 3 for this pattern. Are there any tips for achieving the same quality as the product on the left of the attached picture?

Kirsten S.

Hi Jessica, Welcome to the fourm on Embroidery.com. Looking at your satin columns above, I see they seem to be a bit smaller than those in your sample, probably from pull. So I would suggest adding a layer of cutaway mesh on the back (Exquisite No-Show Mesh, for example). And on top, you might try a topper such as Hemingworth's cold water washaway. These might smooth your results. You didn't mention whether you've got a ball point or sharp needle. On this fabric I suggest specifically a ball point needle. These might smooth your results.

It also may have something to do with the embroidery file you are using. You mentioned using Hatch 3, so you're digitizing it to match the sample? It might be worth having another digitizer check your file and show them your results, as you have here. They may be able to make some useful changes for you based on the fabric, backing, and thread you are using.
Best wishes!

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum. I have a question, I am doing an embroidery for a client and the edge of the logo runs, I put 2 cutaways as a stabilizer and I still can't solve the problem, can someone give me a solution. Thanks in advance

Kirsten S.

It looks like the registration is either being moved during stitching, or the push/pull during stitching is distorting the final product. If you're using a standard hoop, be sure it is hooped firmly. I'd also suggest a cutaway mesh stabilizer (Such as No-Show by the Dime Exquisite line) if you haven't used one yet. Or It might be necessary to have this file looked at by a digitizer. There may be some pull compensation or stitch direction changes that would help your stitched results.

Hello Everyone! I'm new to the forum & have been trying to machine embroider onto 'Lensing' fabric (this is a fine, soft t-shirt fabric, that is made of wood), some call it Eco-Viscose. I am struggling to work out which stabilizer/backing to use (I know it's no good on tearaway and I don't want to use iron-on if I can help it).. any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Leah W.

Hi Dayna,

Thank you for reaching out with your question. This fabric is a newer one, and our team doesn't have experience stitching with it yet. We would recommend doing a small test design on the fabric using a softer cutaway stabilizer such as this one by DIME. Please let me know if you have any other questions, and have a great day!

Hi, all. New to the forum. I have a question....how do I sell a pre-owned Brother Innovis NQ1600e that has very few stitches since its last regular maintenance service? I'm selling it below the prices that I'm seeing on the Internet. I tried to sell it on Facebook Marketplace but there are too many scammers. (I was able to avoid getting ripped off but barely.) It's too nice to give it away. But, I'd like it to go to a good home. I received a Brother Stellaire and no longer need the Innovis. Any ideas on places to go without being ripped off?

Hi Lil,

I am glad to hear that you were able to avoid being scammed. I would recommend trying eBay. That might provide a more secure network on which to sell. Best of luck in your search for a buyer! Please let me know if you have any questions, and have a great day!

I bought my machine used and it leaves thread tails. I have the Ricoma MT1501 machine. I contacted Ricoma directly but they cannot help me. technicians in France are very expensive and I would have liked to find the solution to start my business. I am attaching a photo. some thread remains attached to the velcro bar and after each thread cut the thread is very long. However I adjusted my tensions and changed the parameters. I don't know what to do anymore if you can help me please. Thank you so much

Hi Magali,

Thank you so much for your comment. Wow! It sounds like you have had quite a run for your money with this machine! This short Facebook video talks about some of the reasons for long tails on Ricoma machines. It sounds like maybe it has something to do with the coordination of your picker and your velcro bar. Perhaps you could comment on the video for someone to get back to you (as it was posted by the manufacturer of your machine). My very best wishes to you in your search for answers regarding this problem. Please let us know if you have any further questions, and have a great day!

Hello, I am having trouble with my embroidery machine. Specifically, my tension is messed up. I recently had a rat's nest form while making a patch. I had to yank and pull on it when I took out the bobbin. I got it out, but now the bobbin thread will be showing on top no matter what, and the top thread doesn't get fed at all or just barely when it is doing satin and merrow stitches. During regular fill stitches, the bobbin will show no matter what at the stitch points and at the edges, long threads of bobbin thread are present. I know I have routed the top thread properly so that isn't the issue. These are different designs and colored threads. I tried adjusting the maximum thread tension from default 4 to low one and high 6.5. I tried that in combination with changing the bobbin tension from loose to high. I thinking that this means that the bobbin case was damaged since it won't hold a proper tension.

Kirsten S.

Hi Jonathan,

If the bobbin case is damaged, you'll either need to fix it or replace it. Fortunately, that is something you can do. Check the manufacturer's web site, allbrands.com or sewingpartsonline.com. for a replacement.
Some machines have a removable bobbin case. When you have a proper tension, you should be able to hold the bobbin by the thread (put your hand below it just in case) and allow the thread to slowly unwind, dropping the bobbin down gently. If it drops quickly or catches, there's a problem. One thing to check on the case is the spring. use something very thin but a little bit strong, like the corner of a business card, to gently clean under that spring (which looks like a flap, held down by the screw). It could be that you just have some wad of thread trapped there that is causing the tension to be incorrect, and a cleaning may solve the problem.

For birdsnests in the future, consider getting a birdnest tool kit so that you can trim the nest out with less damage. The one from Dime will be on sale this week.

It was the bobbin case. Once I got it replaced my machine worked just fine

MM E.

Hello everyone!

We hope your having a great day!

We are a young couple trying to create a small bussiness with embroidery machine and we have few years in this sphere, but we are self-taught, and we're not going to lie, it's really hard, but it's making us happy.

We are reaching out to you regarding one problem that we have with our embroidery machine from few months. At the beggining we didn't really knew how to treat the embroidery machine, we oiled it every mounth and we carried the machine to basic prophylactic every six months, but we think that we might haven't let her rest enough after long time of working. However we are having a problem now which is a really bad squeaky noise coming from the machine. For the last one month we took it apart more than 5 times and we tried to figure out from where the noise is, unfortunately, we coundn't and we decided to take it to shop where we buyed it, because they have a mechanic there. We haven't been satisfyied with them, but we didn't had a choice either. After they returned the machine they were confident that it's fixed and this noise is gone, but as soon as we got home with the machine and started it the machine started to squeak again, we called them and they informed us that they can't do anything else and that we can keep working like this until it breaks and they won't take any fault for it. Unfortunately these people are the most recomended in the contry for this job and we don't have a big choice, we need to fix it or to find another way out at some point. The only advice that we received from the mechanic is that we need to open up the whole machine and oil everything at least one time at the week.

One more strange thing that can be said is that this noise starts from the beggining at some project then stops at some point it's coming again. It is mostly when the machine just cut off the thread and start a new detail. We had one whole day with a lot of work and we heard it few times for the whole day of working.

The machine that we are working on is Elna eXpressive 970, but it's absolutely the same as Janome MB-7.

Please see attached the URL link to the Youtube video that we've uploaded for refference:

Please keep in mind that the machine had been oiled a lot in last few months just because of this problem.

Please reach out to us if you have questions or suggestions regarding this problem we will be more than thankful to hear it!

We wish you a great rest of your week and stay safe!

Kind Regards,

MM.Embroidery.

Hi all,

I'm new to machine embroidery. What fabric materials should I use for backgrounds?

I'm mainly going to be making patches with Velcro on the back. And what kind of shop would I go to to find these different colored fabrics?

Please Login to comment on this post.

Leah W.

Hi Jonathan,

Welcome to embroidery! I would recommend Poly Patch Twill, which is specifically designed for patch making. You will also need some heavy duty water soluble stabilizer while stitching your patches, which you can find here. I hope this information helps! Please let me know if you have any questions, and have a great day.

Hi, I hope someone can help. I’m getting looping on the top, caused by base stitch. I assume it’s caused by the tension. But not getting any issues of some other designs.

Please Login to comment on this post.

Kirsten S.

Hi Portia,

Since it's not happing on any other design; perhaps it's the thread you are using, just on this design, and the tension isn't set correctly for this particular thread? Usually when looping happens on top, I suspect bobbin tension, so you might look there.

Hello all! I'm seeking some advice for embroidery repair tips. I have a Lewanjoy dual head 15 needle machine that has run into a jam that I can't quite work out for myself. It starts out with throwing an "E12: Not in stop position", when I try to 100 out my machine it throws "F03: Torque Overload and E20: Main Motor Overtime." What should my steps for troubeshooting be?

Hi group, i have a question. I am thinking about having a couple of jackets embroidered on the back with a car image which i converted to a sketch image from a photo I took. The sketch image is a bit like line art. I am wanting to submit it to an embroidery shop but before I pay $200 for the convetsion of my image to the embroidery file, i wonder if anyone can share how detailed the finished converted image compared to my sketch image. The image I created only has w colors, white black and red. Depending on how close it could be to my sketch will depend on if I go through with it but I would like some experienced opinions before I pay for a conversion service that may not satisfactorily reflect my image.

I realize the needle wont 100% mimc the original image.

I have an ELNA 830.

It appears to be the same machine with different branding as the Yanome 530e

Which says: made in America.

Do you know the story

Hey Chris,

This is a great question. Below you can find some links to more information on both of those machines. According to those links, it looks like the Elna 830 and Janome 550e are comparable to one another, just as you said. This may be due in part to the fact that Janome is Elna's parent company. I hope these resources are helpful to you! Please let me know if you have any other questions, and have a great day.
