Embroidery Machine Assisted Quilting - No more paper piecing

Class Name: Celebration

Instructor:   Patty O’Neill

Category:    Quilting

Procedure:  Quilt Assembly

Topic:          Precision Sewing [NO MORE PAPER PIECING]

I chose "Celebration" as the class name for many reasons. Having quilted for a long time, I have learned all of the procedures that result in a finished product. Some of the procedures never came easy for me. I have always tried to find a better way to work on quilt assembly. I love precision and because of that, I have had many days of ripping out seams trying to make points meet. That frustration led me to develop a procedure that I call "No More Paper Piecing".  Not having to pick out paper any more when quilting is cause for celebration, therefore the name of this class. I am using birthdays as a topic for the first project because this is the "birth" of an entirely new approach [paper free] to creating different types of quilt patterns. Many of us have had embroidery machines for years and we have used them for all of our basic embroidery needs. I believe that this new technique will introduce you to an entirely new way to use your embroidery machine.

In this class we will be using various designs including Birthday Cake, Birthday gift boxes, Borders, Flying Geese, and Labels. I will be using a video to demonstrate the actual stitch-out step by step. .

At the end of this class, my designs will be available through Embroidery.com under my vendor name, Porcupine Point Designs. In addition there will be a pattern developed by Dennie Sullivan for the assembly of the finished product. Dennie has been a well known quilting teacher in Arizona for more than twenty years. She is a member of Agave Quilters, the Arizona Quilt Guild and the American Quilting Society (AQS).

I have five sisters, and one brother. There are seamstresses, painters, and established artist among us. Art and the desire to be creative has always been the driving force in our family, including myself.

I started sewing at age eight on my grandmother's treadle sewing machine and have been hooked on sewing ever since. I am a member of Community Quilters of Lake Gogebic in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, The American Quilt Society, Arizona Quilt Guild, and the Agave Quilt Guild of Sun Lakes, Arizona. My hobbies are sewing, gardening, canning, the study of history, antiquing, and the art of quilting.

My love for antiques and visualizing historical events has inspired me to create moments in time. Everything has a story and meaning to me. When I quilt, make a table runner, or just decorate a room everything becomes a conversation piece from the past.

All of my designs are tested and re-tested before being offered to you. I provide complete customer service and will always respond to you to address any questions that you may have.
